Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts ♡

Ingredients ♡
- 1 lb brussels sprouts
- 6 slices of thick cut bacon
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup real maple syrup
Directions ♡
- Slice brussels sprouts in thin slices i usually get 4 thin pieces from each brussels and cut each piece of bacon in small chunks.
- In a heavy bottom, non stick skillet, at medium high heat add bacon, brussels sprouts, garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. You want to maintain a high heat and not move around food too much as this will help with achieving a crispy bacon and brussels sprouts.
- After your bacon is almost cooked I would recommend draining some of the bacon grease. I usually just use a paper towel and remove excess grease but not all of the grease.
- Add maple syrup and keeping the heat high until preferred crispiness is reached. Usually about 5-7mins longer. Watch closely once the syrupy is added they can burn easily.
Oven Instructions ♡
Make these in the oven! Preheat your oven to 425°F. Cook the Brussels sprouts for 20 minutes, then give them a good stir. Add the maple syrup and toss until everything is well coated.
Return them to the oven and continue cooking, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Keep an eye on them as they caramelize and cook until they reach your desired level of crispiness. ♡
KK’s Tips ♡
Real maple syrup is the key to getting these brussels sprouts extra crispy. You won’t notice a huge difference in flavor if you use generic pancake syrup, but it tends to have a higher water content, which can keep the brussels sprouts from crisping up as well. If you want those perfectly caramelized, crispy edges, go with the real maple syrup.
A non stick pan has a huge impact on this recipe as it will help with caramelization and easy clean up of your pan.
Customize to your liking cut the syrup if you like less sweet. Add or take away bacon! Make this to your taste!!!
